A well-sized rug makes a room feel finished. In a living room, choose a rug large enough for at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs to sit on it. Under a dining table, allow enough rug around the table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Beside a bed, a rug should extend beyond the sides of the bed.
